The 2023 Grammys were this Saturday, and it was wild! Cool songs, amazing artists, and the most wild clothing ever. It was a show! But, whether or not you watched them, we all have important questions. Who won the best artist, which song won the best song this year, which record was the best?

The Overview

Broadcasted live from the Crypto.Com Arena in Los Angeles at 7:00 PM EST, with its host, Trevor Noah, the Grammys offered some interesting nominees. But we’re not going to look at all the nominees for every category, since there are approximately 91 categories for the Grammys, adding up to more than 100 nominees. But we’re going to go over the important ones (aka the Big Four, which include the Record of the Year, the Album of the Year, the Song of the Year, and the Best New Artist.

At the start of the Grammys was the premiere ceremony. The premiere ceremony serves as where a majority of the Grammys are distributed. In fact, around 10% of the major awards are given out towards the main ceremony, which is somewhere towards the end. The premiere ceremony is also where people sing, do performances, and give out speeches, with over 80 trophies being given to Grammy winners. 

Then we go onto the event most people at home wait for: the main ceremony.

The Big Winners

As mentioned before, I can’t list the nominees and winners of all the Grammys as the list would go on for a long time. So without further ado, let us present the nominees and winners of the “Big Four.”

Record of the Year

Other Notable Moments

One of the record-breaking moments that happened was Beyonce breaking the record for most wins in Grammys history.  Her three wins at this award ceremony brings her total Grammy wins to 32! 

Bad Bunny, who won the award for best album for this year, had his performance at the start of the event, where he performed melodies from his album, alongside dancers with oversized heads of Puerto Rican figures. This was all in tribute to his nationality, and was a wonderful performance.

Sam Smith and Kim Petra won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group, with Smith blowing a kiss to Petras. Petras then gave a moving speech about how she is the first transgender woman to win this category. She also referenced her mother memorably, and Sophie, a music producer and artist that helped inspire her to make her own music, and who sadly passed away two years ago in an accident.

Stevie Wonder appeared alongside the band Motown! He, Berry Gordy (the founder of Motown), and Smokey Robinson (songwriter and Motown executive) all performed at the Grammys’ MusiCares Gala. Guest stars such as WanMor and Chris Stapleton joined in for songs  such as ,“The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “The Tears of a Clown,” and “Higher Ground.”
