Recently, the FCC voted to move forward with a proposal for a ruling that will destroy Net Neutrality. If it passes, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T would be allowed to charge any website for a “faster” connection. Of course, what this really means is that websites that don’t pay a fee to the ISPs would be put onto a slower connection, and websites that do pay will get the same connection as before. ISPs will be allowed to screw over every website owner on the internet. They will have the option to either be stuck on a slow connection, degrading their user experience, or be forced to pay for a usable connection.
Now, what can you do to stop this? The FCC is accepting the public’s response until September 10th. Until then, post about this issue on social media, sign petitions like the one at the bottom of this article, and spread the word in any other way you can. For the sake of the internet, this ruling can not pass.
