Coronavirus Causes Delays for ‘The Batman’

By Jack Galowski

Due to the contagious disease, COVID-19, it seems that nearly all film, TV, and other media projects have come to halt. The upcoming Batman movie The Batman, has currently stopped production. Production was occurring in London and other parts in the UK such as Scotland, most likely due to the gothic architecture.

This movie has been in development since 2014, when it was announced that Ben Affleck would star in his own Batman movie but he later stepped down due to personal problems in 2019 and handed it to director Matt Reeves, known for his work on Planet of the Apes. In the same year it was announced that Robert Pattinson, known for playing Edward in the Twilight movies, would be taking on the lead role. Later, other names such as Paul Dano and Zoe Kravitz were revealed to be playing Riddler and Catwoman.

In 2020, Matt Reeves posted the first trailer on Twitter showing off the latest Batsuit. Then images started to leak online until in March when it was announced that all production of the film has stopped due to the recent Coronavirus pandemic that has taken the world by storm.

It is unknown at this time when the film will start up production again.
