On May 31st, Village School will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Principal Stephen Goldberg and the staff will be hosting a party open to alumni and the entire Great Neck community. There will be food trucks, the reveal of the new Village School logo, entertainment, and memorabilia and photo displays. Based on a current RSVP list, hundreds of people are expected to attend.
Founded in 1970, Village School was created and formed as part of a movement of alternative education to provide a place for students to be whoever they wanted to be. The school was so popular that students gained entry through a lottery system and if those not selected attended North High School. Fifty years later, Village is home to students from Great Neck and other districts all over Long Island.
